Product Description
Though bold, the Gallic tribe of the Allobroges were not savages. They were given credit by historys first known wine critic Pliny the Elder as having introduced winemaking to the Romans. A truly civilizing act if we may say so ourselves. In honor of these bold, yet balanced and complex people, we crafted this wine using the grape varietals classically grown in the area they were known to inhabit the Rhone region of France. Sourced entirely from our familys vineyards on the hot, sandy soils of the Wahluke Slope, the near-equally portioned blend of Syrah, Mourvedre, and Grenache from a long, balanced growing season comes together to showcase the quality fruit.Ripe aromas of blackberry, plum, and late-season bing cherry deepen and soften with time in the glass as subtle aromas of sage, smoke, and baking spice begin to make their way forward. The palate is firm but balanced, with excellent length making this a wine that will pair beautifully with rich, hearty fare now or will lay down and mellow for many years to come.Hailing from the Wahluke Slope's Doc Stewart Vineyard & 24K Vineyard, it is a blend of 37% Syrah, 34% Mourvedre, 29% Grenache that spent 17 months in 35% new oak barrels (90% French & 10% American), 65% neutral. 1157 cases produced. Released March 2013. 13.5% alcohol
